I'm taking a four-week trip along the coasts of these two ruggedly beautiful and hospitable countries in June and July of 2022 and would love to have another friendly, sociable individual join me for some of the most enjoyable cycle touring in Europe. Male or female, age 35 plus preferable.
We'll fly into and out of Shannon and bike clockwise around the island, returning to our starting point in Co. Clare. Overnights in B&Bs. 40-60 miles a day. Dinners in restaurants and pubs, the heart of Irish social life, with lively traditional music sessions at night. The itinerary includes short train rides between Larne-Belfast-Dublin, then across the flat midlands from Dublin to Co. Cork. We'll also take ferries to the Aran Islands, Skellig Michael, Inishturk and/or Aranmore.
Ireland's expansive network of small, quiet back roads is ideal for cycling, and the summertime weather is cool and comfortable. Expect daytime highs in the upper 50s F to lower 60s F and overcast skies with intermittent rain nearly every day.
The beautiful scenery, exceptionally friendly people, wonderful B&Bs, grand food and beers and requisite pastry, tea and hot soup stops along the way more than compensate for the relative absence of sunshine.
