Six months to pedal and absorb the landscape, history, and culture of Russia. About 11,000 km in 184 days - split equally between pedalling and absorbing. For example, 3 days of cycling (120 km each) offset by a 3-day stop in fabulous places like Kaliningrad, Riga, Talinn, St. Pertersburg, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Samara, Ufa, Chelyabinsk, Yekaterinburg, Tyumen, Omsk, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude, Chita, Khabarovsk, and Vladivostok. Click here for proposed route(link is external). We'll try to maximise local contact by finding people who can accomodate us for a fee. If that's not possible, then Warmshowers, hotels, or camping - in that order. This may not be a budget cyclist's idea of touring, but then this isn't about ticking off an item on some bloody list. It's about exploring a glorious land and experiencing its varied peoples. Wild camping alone does not accopmplish that. I'm flexible on route and happy to subsidise costs for like-minded eager cyclists - with no obligation because this is an epic tour and companionship itself is priceless. Two of us would be better, three ideal.
