Great Divide Mountain Bike Route
Looking for two people to join me on the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route. I have never done a long distance bike tour, but I have done other activities such as back country camping for several weeks at a time, so I am familiar with a lot of the skills necessary to have a successful trip. Looking for partners who are down to earth, organized, a good tolerance for adversity and uncertainty, can laugh at most things, good hearted, and are physically fit to handle the rigors of this trip (obviously). I've been researching this route for a few years now, but am still early in the process of planning it. Start and end dates are flexible. Will have more concrete plans once I get the updated route maps. How I see the tour going. Riding anywhere from 60 to 100 miles a day with a few rest days thrown in there at some locations that would warrant some extra time visiting. I want to camp the majority of the time, but also plan on staying a portion of the nights at a motel, hostel, or some other lodging. Food will be simple - Clifbars, rice & beans, but will definitely hit up a diner or restaurant a few times a week. I will either be riding a fat bike or a mountain bike with front suspension - not going for a land speed record; slow and steady is the name of the game. I am planning on taking the Amtrak from Fargo, ND to Whitefish, MT and then finding a lift to Banff. Not sure how this will work yet. I may just start in Whitefish, but would prefer to do the whole route.
