Roscoff to Vladivostok

My name is Jonathan. I am 47 years old and live in Cork, Ireland. I am of English and Irish ancestry.

I am planning my dream adventure — to cycle from Roscoff in France to Vladivostok in Russia — and I’m looking for one or more companions to join me on the journey. I am currently saving money and hope to begin in June 2026, although I’m flexible with the start date. The trip is expected to last at least 18 months.

The journey will begin at the ferry port of Roscoff in France, as there is a ferry connection from Cork to Roscoff. Upon arrival, I plan to follow EuroVelo 4 to Calais. My preferred accommodation throughout the trip will be camping, Warmshowers hosts, and hostels.

From Calais, I intend to take a train to Donaueschingen in Germany, the source of the Danube. I will then follow the river through Germany, Austria, Slovakia, and Hungary to Budapest. From Budapest, I plan to cycle through Romania and Bulgaria to Istanbul, Turkey.

After Turkey, my route will continue through Georgia and into Baku, Azerbaijan. From Baku, I aim to take a ferry across the Caspian Sea to Aktau. The remainder of the journey will take me through Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, China, Mongolia, and finally Russia, finishing at the port of Vladivostok.
